About Kyle
My name is Kyle Porter and I am a writer. Right now that includes mostly golf and occasionally a bit of theology or Christian belief. This blog is a collection of things I love and things I think I’m thinking.
It is a way for me to hold myself accountable to a continual spirit of learning. Working ideas, thoughts and theories out and an opportunity for you to take a peek at those if you want.
It is a collection of all the things I wish I would have known and all the things I’m glad I’ve learned about God, words, writing and life. I hope it’s a place my kids visit someday if they ever want to know what I was thinking at a specific moment in time.
It is, as Tony Reinke once put it, a digital corkboard for myself. A place to pin stuff I love to come back to later on if I need it. Seth Godin has said the practice of telling himself the truth in public every day is legit itself invaluable. He would pay for it.
I would too.
In a previous iteration of my online life, I started and sold and Oklahoma State sports website called Pistols Firing. Now, I cover golf for CBS Sports and contribute to the First Cut Podcast. You can also find some of my work at Mosaic Richardson, where I serve as an elder.
This site was not created to be a content machine but rather as a place to gather what I’m learning and creating. You can also follow my golf writing on Twitter or on CBSSports.com. And as always — remember to honor the craft.
